Haji Sardar Mohmand, president of the Peshawar chapter of Pakistan's ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was shot dead on Wednesday.
The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has taken responsibility for the killing of Khan. He was in Yakotot area of Peshawar.
TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorsani had declared the PML-N to be on its hit list after the Awami National Party (ANP).
