A session of the Tamil Nadu assembly has been called Tuesday evening, assembly secretary A.M.P. Jamaludeen announced Monday.
A DMDK legislator told IANS the session would discuss India's participation in the Nov 15-17 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo.
While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has decided to stay away from the meet, the central government has decided to depute a delegation led by External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
The central government's decision to send a delegation to CHOGM has drawn flak from political parties in Tamil Nadu, including the AIADMK and the DMK.
The parties were opposed to prime minister's visit to Sri Lanka because of what they said were human rights abuses, involving Tamil civilians.
Manmohan Singh Sunday sent a letter of regret to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, explaining why he was not attending the summit.
