Telecom major Tata Teleservices on Monday announced that one of its subsidiary has tied up with e-commerce behemoth Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to provide an additional payments gateway.

According to the telcom major, it has entered into a payments gateway tie-up with IRCTC through its subsidiary "mRUPEE".

"Our partnership with IRCTC adds to the tremendous reach of mRUPEE's market," said Pradeep K.Sampath, chief operating officer for mRUPEE.

"We're excited that these kinds of meaningful partnerships are helping to not only give our customers the ease of quick and convenient booking, but also give a thrust to the government's mandate of enhancing wider adoption of digital money in India."

The company elaborated that its association will allow users one-tap payments options for all railway ticket bookings via mRUPEE wallet. The IRCTC portal sees approximately 4.5 to 5 lakh bookings per day on an average.
