Teenager arrested for murdering neighbour

A 19-year-old youth who murdered his neighbour for objecting to his cutting leaves from a tree in their neighbourhood was arrested here, police said Saturday.

Sujeet Kumar, a resident of Geeta Colony in east Delhi, had gone to the neighbourhood park to cut leaves from a banana tree Thursday when his 23-year-old neighbour Govind Mehto came out and raised objections resulting in a quarrel.

An enraged Kumar slit Mehto's throat with a kitchen knife and fled from the spot. The victim was rushed to a hospital but died due to excessive bleeding.

Following the incident, Kumar went underground but was arrested by the police Friday.
