Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday said the government should think 1,000 times before tabling any bill in the assembly.
"The opposition should play a constructive role and the ruling party should think 1,000 times before tabling any bill in the assembly," said Murmu while speaking on the 16th foundation day of Jharkhand assembly.
Her observations come amid the stand-off between the ruling and opposition parties over bringing amendments in the two land acts -- the Chotanagpur Tenancy CNT and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SPT).
The government should think whether the bill is in favour of the people and the state, the governor added.
"Time should not matter but the government should solve the issue. People are aware and understand what is happening inside and outside the assembly. The assembly should formulate the policy considering people's interest," Murmu said.
After the proposed amendments, the agricultural land could be used for non-agricultural purposes.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das is adamant about bringing the amendments to the land acts while the opposition is against it.
