Security forces on Wednesday shot dead three Maoists who carried rewards for their capture in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district.
A 12-member team of security personnel was sent to check the presence of Maoists after a tip off, Bastar's Inspector General of Police S.R.P. Kalluri told IANS.
But the team was ambushed between Lakhapal and Tarempara villages. The security forces retaliated. Later, bodies of the three "hardcore Maoists" were found. The other rebels fled.
Police seized a huge amount of explosives and ammunition from the site. One of the Maoists was identified as Bal Singh.
