Tiger Division emerged overall winners in the Western Command Cross Country Championship held here Wednesday.
Fifteen teams and 90 participants from various formations took part in the event.
The 12 km cross-country run was conducted from Kotle Takliyan to Arnia. Sepoy Pravesh Kumar of Meerut Division won the race in record time of 37 minutes, while Rifleman Ghulam Mohammed and Sepoy Kapil finished second and third.
The Cross Country Championship is conducted every year to foster competitive spirit amongst the participants and to select budding talent from the Army for National Championships and Olympics.
The Western Command event was flagged off by Maj Gen Ashwani Kumar, GOC, Tiger Division. All teams struggled neck to neck and Tiger Division were the overall winners. Selected runners of the meet would represent their team in the forthcoming Services Championship.
