Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Monday accused Trinamool Congress activists of attacking his carcade and trying to damage his car during his visit to Durgapur Steel Thermal Power station (DSTPS).
The power station is in Supriyo's constituency in West Bengal's Asansol.
"During a regular visit to DSTPS, Durgapur, aggressive TMC goons stone pelting and trying to break my car as usual," Supriyo tweeted later on the day.
The Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries also charged the local police with remaining inactive despite requests from CISF assistant commander present in the convoy.
"Mr. Verma, Asst. Commander, CISF, has been requesting local police from the morning but has received no help so far," he told Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah in a tweet.
He also raised questions about the law and order situation in the state comparing it to violence-torn Syria.
"Am I in Syria? it is 5.45 in the evening. Deserted streets with CISF on both sides. Such a shame and I was on a Official DSTPS Visit," he added.
