The Apple Inc. retail store in Japan's capital Tokyo called off a promotional event after receiving an anonymous letter threatening to blow up the outlet unless the event was cancelled, the media reported on Monday.

Police searched the retail store located in Ginza district but found no suspicious object, the Japan Times reported.

According to sources, the event, to be attended by high-profile guests, was scheduled to be held on Sunday afternoon.

Upon receiving the letter, the store suspended operations for about an hour and the event was called off.
