TV actresses Kritika Kamra and Ishita Sharma have lent support to a Food for Soul initiative, which encourages people to make donations towards the welfare of the underprivileged.
The initiative has been launched by popular food ordering portal Foodpanda in association with Uday Foundation.
So far, Foodpanda has helped satiate food cravings by helping customers to order food online. Their new campaign now encourages patrons to generously feed the lesser privileged.
Kritika, who was seen in "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge", believes that the campaign lends a means of supporting such people.
"While we don't think twice before eating out or ordering in whenever we wish, there is a very significant category of society which has to make do with the bare minimum when it comes to satiating their hunger," she said in a statement.
Ishita, her co-star of "Kuch Toh...", said: "It gives each one of us an opportunity to make a difference in our own way to enrich a child's life and put a smile on his face. I am glad to have done my bit for the campaign and would encourage others to share this feeling as well."
To do your bit, Foodpanda patrons can log on to the website and make a donation to a listed food item like foodgrains, pulses, vegetable oil, biscuits and so on. The portal will then forward the proceedings to the charitable institution, thus reaching out to many children who deserve to live a healthy and happy life.
The campaign backs Uday Foundation's ongoing project Santushti, which runs a free food van to serve wholesome food to families of the underprivileged patients in ICUs of government hospitals. The van also feeds children who come from distant places to Delhi hospitals for long treatments.
Rohit Chadda, managing director and founder - Foodpanda.in said: "This campaign aims at extending our concept of food delivery services to a different stratum of society and touching their lives through the gift of food."
