Police shot dead a man after he stabbed a cleric at Tehran subway station on Saturday, an official said.
The cleric was rushed to a hospital after the attacker stabbed him with a knife in the Shahr-e-Ray subway station, Xinhua news agency quoted Shahr-e-Ray district Governor Hadi Tamhidi as saying.
Another person, who helped the cleric, was also injured in the attack, he said.
The identity of the assailant has not been revealed, and there has been no report about the terrorist intentions in the attack so far.
