The CBI Tuesday arrested two more engineers of a Delhi municipal corporation over a Rs.30 lakh bribe taken by civic officials from a private firm's owner for regularisation of a banquet hall, an official said Tuesday.
Rajesh Wadhwa, superintendent engineer, and M.K. Gupta, assistant engineer, were arrested from a Jaipur hotel, the official said here.
"Both the accused will be presented before a CBI special court Wednesday," said a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official.
The probe agency had earlier arrested eight people in the case.
Rajesh Aggarwal and Manish Tuli, partners of Gurgaon-based private firm Micromax Informatics, were arrested Aug 8 for offering the bribe to civic officials.
The bribe was for granting regularisation in an improper manner to a banquet hall at Wazirpur Industrial area in north Delhi.
"On Aug 8, at least 15 places were raided. During the search at the house of a junior engineer of municipal corporation, Rs.40 lakh was recovered. During the search at the residence of one of the arrested accused, Rs.30 lakh and jewellery was recovered," said the official.Two of the arrested employees of the municipal corporation were working 'beldars'. Delhi Development Authority official Rajesh Gupta was also involved.
It was alleged that the employees of municipal corporation were taking the bribe on behalf of Wadhwa, Gupta and two other engineers of municipal corporation.
"During searches at various locations of accused public servants, more than Rs.1 Crore has been recovered so far," said the official.
