Two Mumbai residents were arrested for possessing party drug amphetamine or 'Speed' worth Rs.10.25 lakh in a raid conducted in the early hours of Monday, police said.
Mustafa Miaji (29) and Mohammed Darvesh (29), both from Thane, a Mumbai suburb, were arrested in the beach village of Chapora, known as a hub of tourism and narcotics activity in north Goa while attempting to peddle the drug.
Party drugs are commonly used in Goa's electronic dance music and rave parties, which are held nearly every night in hotspots across Goa's 105-km long coastline.
The duo has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
