Two Odisha towns sizzle at 42.5 degrees

Two towns in Odisha recorded maximum temperatures of 42.5 degrees Celsius Monday as the heat wave intensified in many parts of the state, an official said.

Titilagarh and Sonepur towns in the districts of Bolangir and Subarnapur respectively recorded the state's highest temperature of the day, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

Other places where the mercury went up include the industrial town of Angul (42.1 degrees), Bhabanipatna (42 degrees) and Talcher (41.5 degrees).

The maximum temperature recorded in Bhubaneswar and adjoining Cuttack was 39.7 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius respectively, the official said.

He said heat wave conditions would prevail at some places in the state over the next two days.
