Two of three suicide bombers were killed when they attacked a base of Afghan intelligence agency in Afghanistan's Kandahar province Wednesday, a police said.

"Three suicide bombers attacked a base of National Directorate of Security (NDS) at 10 a.m. in the provincial capital of Kandahar city. The security forces have killed two of them and gunfight is going on," provincial police spokesman Zia Durani told Xinhua.

Eyewitnesses said four suicide bombers attempting to overrun a checkpoint next to the base failed to enter the compound.

Several shops and houses nearby were damaged in the blasts and by gunshots, according to the eyewitnesses.
