The Uttar Pradesh government Thursday moved to constitute a State Road Safety Council, officials informed.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will chair this council. Ordering that the modalities be completed within three months, Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani said a road safety fund also would be created.
This fund, he added, would be used in safety measures for Uttar Pradesh roads. A cell for this is being constituted in the transport department, an official told IANS.
He said that in the proposed road safety policy, efforts would be made to assimilate the salient points of the national road policy.
