Contradicting his former live-in partner Indrani Mukherjea, now under arrest for the murder of their daughter Sheena Bora, Siddarth Das has said Upendra Nath Bora was Indrani's father and not stepfather.
Former NewsX CEO Vir Sanghvi had disclosed to India Today channel on Friday that Indrani revealed to him that her father had walked out of the house and was never seen again.
"Her mother then went on to marry her father's brother. She (Indrani) said she never got on with her stepfather and that her stepfather molested her," Sanghvi told the channel.
Das, who claimed he was the biological father of Sheena and Mikhail Bora, said: "No, he (Upendra Nath Bora) was her father. She loved her a lot."
Das, who came out into the open on Tuesday but spoke to the media with his face covered, also revealed that he and Indrani named Sheena after the title and leader character of the 1984 Hollywood film "Sheena".
"Mikhail was named by his maternal grandfather after Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev," said Das.
Das said on Tuesday he was prepared to undergo a DNA test to establish his paterinity and help police in their investigation into the sensational murder case.
He also denied having married Indrani, but said he shared a live-in-relationship with her in the 1980s, and averred that she should be hanged if she did kill their daughter.
Sheena was killed on April 24, 2012, and her body was found by Raigad police on May 23, 2012.
So far, Mumbai police have arrested Indrani, her driver Shyam Rai and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, whom she had married in 1993 and consequently divorced. Indrani's current husband is media baron Peter Mukherjea.
