US helicopter crashes in Red Sea

A US navy helicopter crashed in the Red Sea Sunday and five personnel onboard were reported missing, Xinhua reported.

US navy's fifth fleet which is based in Bahrain announced in a statement that an MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter crashed in the Red Sea during an operation.

"The status of the five personnel on board the helicopter is still being determined. The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity," the statement said.

Rescue efforts have been carried out and the incident is under investigation, it said.
