The JK Tyre Racing Championship final round came to an end at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) here Sunday with Vishnu Prasad (Meco Racing) clinching the inaugural FB02 title.
In Formula 4 LGB, Sarosh Hataria of Dark Don Racing took the champion's title while Mumbai's Rahil Noorani took the top honours in the Volkswagen Polo R Cup.
In the final two races of FB02, Kolhapur-based Chittesh Mandody, who clinched his maiden victory Saturday, came up with a stunning repeat performance by taking two more victories and making a hat-trick of wins over the weekend.
Arjun Maini, who was in the running for the championship, finished third in Race 1 which he followed by a third place finish in Race 2.
Championship leader Vishnu finished second and third respectively in the two races which was enough to ensure him the championship with 179 points. For his effort, Vishnu has earned himself a free test in European Formula 3 in Italy with EuroInternational.
In the Volkswagen Polo R Cup, Gaurav Mehta won the first race with Jeffrey Kruger and Noorani in second and third places. In Race 2, Kruger was back at the top ahead of Noorani and Karthik Tharani.
But being an invitation driver, Kruger's points were not taken into account towards the championship. As a result, Noorani was crowned the Polo R Cup champion with 392 points. Prashant Tharani finished with 368 points in second while Angad Matharoo ended the season third with 312.
In the only Formula 4 LGB, Kartik Krishna took a fine victory ahead of Vishnu and Rohit Khanna. Despite finishing outside the top three, it was Hataria's day as he was crowned the champion with 230 points, followed by Vishnu at 162 and Krishna in third with 149.
In the Ultima Queens Cup, Ducth Sheila Verschuur once again repeated Saturday's performance to clinch a fine victory with Edina Bus and Lieette Braams-Van finishing second and third, respectively.
