Himachal Pradesh has allowed the entry of private retail outlets, including Bharti-Walmart, to open stores so that consumers could get quality products at cheaper rates, state Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.S. Bali said here Friday.

"So far we have invited only Walmart and Metro. There could be others also keen to grab the market but the government will see their response and then take a further call," Bali told reporters here.

He justified the government's decision saying that "Walmart buys goods in bulk from producers and manufacturers directly and sells them through its network of stores. Consumers will be benefited ultimately".
