Will Ferrell is no longer attached to headline satirical biopic "Reagan".
The actor faced backlash after he was reportedly in talks to play Ronald Reagan in the Black List comedy focusing on the former US president's dementia, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"The 'Reagan' script is one of a number of scripts that had been submitted to Will Ferrell which he had considered," Ferrell's representative said.
"While it is by no means an 'Alzheimers comedy' as has been suggested, Mr. Ferrell is not pursuing this project," the representative added.
Penned by Mike Rosolio, the story starts "when Ronald Reagan falls into dementia at the start of his second term, an ambitious intern is tasked with convincing the Commander-In-Chief that he is an actor playing the President in a movie".
After Ferrell's casting was announced, Reagan's family spoke out.
His son Michael Reagan tweeted: "What an outrage. Alzheimer's is not a joke. It kills. You should be ashamed, all of you".
