A woman and her child were killed by a speeding train at Bally station here in what seemed to be a suicide bid, eyewitnesses said on Saturday.
"We saw the woman go on the railway track with her daughter. We shouted and tried to call her back on the platform but she didn't respond. When the train came, she was trapped beneath the engine coach and her daughter's legs were sliced off. The daughter was lying on the side, she was alive at the time," said an eyewitness.
Eyewitnesses claimed the incident seemed liked a suicide attempt because the mother did not heed their calls when the train came speeding through.
