A woman was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) while allegedly trying to smuggle gold valued at about Rs.25 lakh, police said on Monday.
The accused, who hails from Amritsar, was intercepted on Saturday by customs officials after her arrival from Dubai.
She was wearing gold ornaments on both her wrists and had covered them under the full sleeves of her suit. She attempted to clear the gold jewellery weighing one kilogramme clandestinely out of the airport without declaring it, the customs department said in a release on Monday.
The value of the gold, which was seized by the customs, was assessed to be Rs.24.95 lakh, the release said.
