Distressed over financial problems, a woman poisoned to death her two children and later attempted suicide with her mother by jumping into a lake. She survived while her mother died.
The incident took place in Medak town, about 100 km from here.
According to police, Shyamala, working as a peon in Medak municipal office, poisoned her two children Spandana, 7, and Nandish, 5, Wednesday night.
Later, Shyamala along with her mother Rajamani jumped into a nearby lake.
While Rajamani died, Shyamala survived. She was shifted to the government-run hospital in the town, where her condition is stated to be critical.
Police said Shyamala wrote a 10-page suicide note, citing financial problems and loan burden as the reason for the extreme step.
