Turning 71 Friday reminded megastar Amitabh Bachchan of the speed with which the years are passing by. But the actor, who regales film and TV viewers with his presence even now, realises that ageing is inevitable.

Over the years, Big B has delivered memorable performances in movies like "Zanjeer", "Abhimaan", "Kabhie Kabhie", "Silsila", "Baghban" and "Paa".

"It is 71 now. Just last year or just the other day it was 70! The years seem to pass by faster now than they did before," Amitabh posted on his official blog srbachchan.tumblr.com.

"There was a desire to push the pedal all along those early years, to mature, to become adult, to bring on greater age. Now, you depress the brakes pedal with equal effort, and hope to stem the slide as it were," he added.

Nevertheless, he says he is accepting the years.

"No not I, I accept the years, the giving up on time, on age. It shall happen to us all. That is the commonality of the process of life. We are blessed, all of us," posted the thespian, who is currently busy hosting the ongoing season of TV game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati".

He was also appreciated for his performance in Prakash Jha's "Satyagraha", which released in August. The energetic and passionate actor that he is, Amitabh also started shooting for "Bhootnath Returns" Wednesday.
