YouTube is generally seen as a leisure site for netizens, but Czech tennis player Lukas Rosol has used it to perfection, learning a few tricks on how to beat his opponents from the video sharing website.
Following his straight-sets victory over India's Yuki Bhambri in the Davis Cup World Group Playoff first singles rubber at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) complex here on Friday, World No.85 Rosol said that he had learnt how to beat the Delhi boy from YouTube.
"Before my match, yesterday I saw a couple of videos of Yuki playing where he was beaten by his opponents. I copied from there and learnt how to beat him," the 30-year-old said after his win.
The Brno-born, who is also famous for defeating tennis great Rafael Nadal at the 2012 Wimbledon, had to fight the crowd, muggy weather and a spirited fight back from Bhambri to beat the Indian 6-2, 6-1, 7-5 in an hour and 56 minutes and give the Czechs a 1-0 lead.
The lead was later levelled with Somdev Devvarman's win over Jiri Vesely.
"Yuki fought well and came back strong in the third set. There was good support from the Czechs here in the crowd too. I am happy to finish it in three sets," said Rosol.
"Yuki played the third set really well. I was hitting the ball deep and flat and my strategies worked out well. Humidity wasn't a factor for me as the other days were much more hot and humid."
