Rupert Murdoch’s much younger Chinese-origin wife Wendi Deng’s lunge against the British comedian who attacked her husband has spawned a small cult following in south-east Asia. “I would Wendi Deng for you” is a new favourite online catchphrase, a newspaper in Singapore reported. Another comment on a Chinese forum translated as: “The slap just drove up the stock prices of News Corp”! There was also this gem on Twitter: “Wendi Murdoch sleeps with night light. Not because Wendi Murdoch’s afraid of the dark, but the dark is afraid of Wendi Murdoch.”
