Another journalist asked Yechury about Kerala’s radical leader Madani, with whom the CPI(M) had an electoral understanding in 2009. Yechury, in his bid to evade the Madani issue, quipped, “As it is, Mamata, along with Nepal, is a very complex issue. If you add Madani to it, it becomes even more complicated. Let me answer only the part related to Mamata.”
