The selection process for poll candidates of any party always attracts scores of aspirants and onlookers. As the ruling party at the Centre, the Congress, faces the maximum pressure, as it has more ticket-seekers than its other rivals. To keep the candidates’ selection meetings a closely guarded secret, the party decided against holding them at the Congress headquarters. During the Bihar Assembly election, the Central Election Committee (CEC) meetings were held at the residences of various leaders. Even that was not found to be totally insulated from the intrusive aspirants. This time, the party is not taking any chances and has decided to hold the CEC meetings at a state guest house. One of the Congress-led government’s guest houses in the heart of the city has been chosen as the venue and bookings have been made accordingly.
