With the airline's finances in a mess, not only are SpiceJet passengers forced to go without basic services such as catering, even pilots and crew members have been forced to adapt to a frugal lifestyle. A pilot flying several sectors complained recently that he received sandwiches and no beverages at the end of a long trip. When he finally landed at his home base, eager to get home for dinner, the cab that usually waits outside to drop him was absent because the airline, presumably, had not paid the taxi operator for months.
