The recent 36-hour hunger strike by former BJP president Rajnath Singh in solidarity with Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, who were detained for six hours at the Jammu airport and then taken to Punjab in the middle of the night, didn’t go down well with the senior leadership of the BJP. Addressing a press conference in support of the detained BJP leaders, LK Advani mentioned the names of all the members who had actively taken part in the Ekta Yatra and courted arrest while trying to hoist the national flag. Sitting in a corner, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi sarcastically reminded Advani, in front of the media, that he must not forget Rajnath Singh who stayed hungry for 36 hours and only broke his fast on the morning of January 26 when BJP president Nitin Gadkari urged him to do so.
