Green games

While the jury is out on whether the Commonwealth Games will be a success, the Commonwealth Games’ Organising Committee is going to organise several Green Games Concerts in the run-up to the Games. The concerts will be held in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi to promote the theme of Green Games.

The organising committee’s initiative is getting support from the United Nations Development Programme, the environment ministry and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The organising committee will take steps to conduct the Games in an environment-friendly way and with lower carbon emissions. As the Games are approaching, there are also plans of holding fashion shows to promote the “Green” theme.
