This refers to ‘Waiting for the next time’, January 11. The article has very rightly pointed out some of the corrective measures which need to be taken in the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and has said that agreeing to the suggestion for Indo-Pak talks on the issue of the Mumbai attack is really playing into Pakistan’s hand.
Pakistan has so far acted in a dubious manner and while there is technically an elected government there, the real players, as usual, are the military and the ISI whose role in cross-border terrorism in India has been more than evident. Our political leadership, including the Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and the Defence minister, has not minced words in telling Pakistan that it should either behave or be prepared to pay the price of its misdeeds.
If Pakistan fails to hand over the Mumbai attack accused to India, the next step should be to pursue the case for declaring Pakistan a rogue state, imposing sanctions and stopping all global economic and military aid to it. Having become the hub of global terror, Pakistan is a threat not only to India but to the whole world. However, India must be fully prepared for the final step in case all its efforts fail.
