IT services firm MindTree had been through a torrid time with losses for several quarter and co-founder Ashok Soota exiting with several stalwarts. So when it turned in a profit for the latest quarter in which revenues also crossed $100 million, it decided to share its happiness with its employees. But when the chocolates, photo-frames and other gifts abruptly arrived on their desks, bemused staffers initially thought this was part of a wedding or birthday celebration of a senior employee or maybe an early Diwali gift. They had never received such a treat from the company before.
Clarification
MindTree has not had losses for several quarters, contrary to what was stated in the above report on the company. We regret the error.
