Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah got stuck in an elevator at a guest house in Patna last week, setting off allegations of conspiracy from his party and taunts from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad about his weight. The official explanation was the lift had stopped because it was overloaded. Lalu Prasad took it upon himself to offer an explanation: "Fat people shouldn't take lifts." This is not the first time Shah has been targeted by his rivals for his weight. When World Yoga Day celebrations were underway, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had advised him to practise yoga at home before performing in public. Shah has decided to reserve his comments on this issue.
