The list named 27 politicians, which included leaders such as Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily, Law Minister Kapil Sibal, National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
Among them, 14 were from the ruling Congress party and three from the BJP, the main opposition party.
“This is a list of corrupt ministers of the country. We will field strong candidates against them,” said Kejriwal.
He also said this was the initial list and urged the National Council members to give more names to the party.
Kejriwal told Business Standard the party would field a capable candidate against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, too, as this was “just the first list.”
Kejriwal also took a dig at Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. “It is said Rs 500 crore is being spent to create the Modi brand and the Rahul brand. How could politicians who create brands give the country an honest government?” asked Kejriwal in his speech. He said the aim of the party was to make Parliament free of corrupt leaders and end the dynastic politics prevalent in the country.
Party sources revealed the first list of candidates would be out in two-three days. Another member said the initial list would include candidates who would fight against ministers whose names were given by Kejriwal in the list.
