Amidst majority of exit polls predicting a BJP victory in Uttar Pradesh and edge in Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, the party president Amit Shah visited Mumbai this morning and held meeting with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretaries Bhaiyaji Joshi and Krishna Gopal. RSS sources confirmed that Shah visited the RSS' Konkan region office located in the central Mumbai. He later left for Delhi.

However a BJP leader who did not want to be identified told Business Standard,'' The meeting was quite important considering the results of various exit polls showing bright prospects for BJP in four states except Punjab. Emergence of single largest party with majority in Uttar Pradesh will be quite crucial for the party and especially for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah. Therefore, the discussion may have taken place on the party's future strategy and possible names of chief minister for Uttar Pradesh.''

He informed that Shah and RSS leaders have discussed the BJP's campaign in five states and how it was tweaked especially after party's rout in Bihar and Delhi elections mainly to consolidate party's position.

BJP's Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar was also present during the meeting.
