Bihar suffered after Nitish parted ways with BJP, says think tank

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to demolish Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's image of 'Sushasan Babu' - the leader who brought 'good governance' to the state. A party-affiliated think tank has compiled copious data available in the public domain to prove how the state suffered after Kumar parted ways with BJP, its ally of nearly two decades, in 2013.

Public Policy Research Centre, headed by BJP Vice-President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, has studied the impact of the split between Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and the BJP on effective governance in Bihar. The study claims the state has suffered in nearly all sectors, including health, infrastructure, and law and order.

It claims Bihar was the fastest growing state with 14.15 per cent in the country in 2010-11. Its growth rate was around 15 per cent in 2012-13, but declined to below nine per cent after Kumar parted ways with the BJP over the question of electing the then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as the National Democratic Alliance's Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
