Centre approves Rs 1,487 cr power develpoment schemes for Haryana

The Centre has approved power development schemes worth Rs 1,487 crore for 36 towns in Haryana under part-A and part-B of its Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP).

The power distribution system in 36 towns in Haryana, each having population of more than 30,000, will be renovated and strengthened under the RAPDRP of the Central Government, Principal Secretary (Power)-cum-Chairman, Haryana Power Utilities, Devender Singh said here today.

He said after a meeting of senior officers of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) called to review the progress of works under the RAPDRP.

Singh said that the RAPDRP would be executed in two parts.

Under part-A, the power distribution system would be made information technology (IT) based while under part-B, the power distribution system in the towns would be strengthened and renovated.

Under part-A of this prestigious programme, the Nigams plan to give a strong information technology base to the electricity distribution system by way of consumer indexing, asset mapping, metering of feeders and distribution transformers, automatic data logging and feeder segregation.

It would also include ring fencing, information technology applications and establishment of base line data system.

He said that for part-A of the RAPDRP schemes, the Central Government is providing cent per cent loan which will be converted into grant if the schemes are completed within the stipulated period.

Part-B of RAPDRP covers renovation, modernisation and strengthening of 11 kV level by way of addition of Distribution transformer, re-conductoring of lines at 11KV level and below, feeder segregation/bifurcation, load balancing, installation of capacitor banks and mobile service centres, he added.

In exceptional cases, where sub-transmission system is weak, strengthening at 33 KV levels may also be considered.

He said that under part-A of RAPDRP, projects of Rs 90.47 crore for the towns in the area of the DHBVN and projects for Rs 76.16 crore for the towns in the area of the UHBVN have already been sanctioned by the Union Government.
