Raising slogans and waving party flags, the protesters urged the government to immediately implement the project that would spur economic growth. The agitators courted arrest and were later released.

Later speaking to reporters, Karunanidhi condemned the arrest of party cadres and said DMK would decide on the future course of action after holding a meeting.
Asked about important decisions taken at the District Secretaries meet yesterday, he said the party had decided to take part in the Lok Sabha polls.
He also said he was 'agitated' over the delay in release of Vijay starer "Thalaivaa" in Tamil Nadu.
