BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy, who is hogging the headlines for his controversial statements, on Saturday claimed his attacks are direct and not a camouflage to attack anyone else, in reference to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Responding to a specific question if his motive in attacking RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan was to indirectly target Union Finance Minister Jaitley, the maverick Swamy shot back: "I am straight and I have always attacked straight."
"I don't target A to get to B as that's not the way I do things. All through I have attacked directly. Rajan is no economist, while I am. He holds an IIT degree and an MBA from MIT. I made my point clear against him and said he has to go, and one day I read in the newspaper that he is leaving," said Swamy.
In reply to a question if he has "lost the plot" in his barbs against Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian and Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, Swamy said he has made his point clear and has nothing more to add.
And when asked if he is doing all this to become a cabinet minister in the impending reshuffle, Swamy said "I don't decide such things, it's done by the Prime Minister."
Praising the Narendra Modi government, Swamy said there has not been even an allegation of corruption against it in the past two years.
On his changing political positions, Swamy said he has never left one party to join another party.
"I began in Jana Sangh and that became the Janata Party, which merged with the BJP. I am not one who has changed parties," added Swamy.
