"The JPC report on 2G spectrum scam that was submitted by Chacko to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is the most shameful in the history of independent India. Chacko has acted as the Congress spokesperson and not as JPC chairperson," Deputy Leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.
He alleged that the dissent note on the report which was submitted by BJP members of the JPC has been deleted.
"This is for the first time that the dissent note in the report of any Parliamentary Committee has been deleted," he said.
Chacko submitted the JPC report to the Speaker yesterday.
Refuting Chacko's contention that only unparliamentary material in the dissent note has been deleted, Prasad, who was one of the members of the JPC, said all critical references have been removed on this pretext.
"It is for the first time ever that six political parties have submitted their dissent note in a report. DMK, AIADMK, CPI, CPI-M, BJP and BJD submitted dissent notes. Only JD(U) and SP did not," Prasad said.
He maintained that JPC is a "mini-Parliament" as all prominent parties are represented in it. Its sanctity should be maintained, he emphasised.
