The BJP is heading for a landslide victory in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan while wresting power in Delhi while a thriller is on the cards in Chattisgarh with the party and Congress in a neck to neck battle.

A remarkable showing by the fledgling Aam Aadmi Party, which is ahead in 24 seats in the national capital is giving jitters to BJP which is ahead in 35 of the 70 seats up for grabs.

Three-time Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit herself was trailing behind AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in the prestigious New Delhi constituency.

Dikshit had earlier forwarded her resignation to the Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, finally accepting that her Congress Party has lost the assembly polls in the national capital.

However, it was a clear verdict in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was leading BJP in Madhya Pradesh to an improved performance with the party ahead in 153 of the 230 seats. The Congress was leading only in 65 seats unable to avoid a BJP hat-trick.

In Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje Scindia was on the way to toppling the Congress from power with a spectacular showing with BJP heading in 139 of the 200 seats with Congress ahead only in 31 constituencies.

Chhattisgarh is proving to be a photo-finish with the ruling BJP and Congress involved in a neck and neck race. At one time, both were leading in 45 seats each in the 90 seats available.

But when last reports came, BJP was ahead in 48 and Congress in 41.
