State govt finalising proposals to get maximum fund from Centre

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Chhattisgarh is eyeing maximum fund from the party-led Narendra Modi government in the Centre for taking up different welfare and development schemes in the state.

Chief Minister Raman Singh had been alleging that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had denied Chhattisgarh with sufficient fund and resources. The state government has swung into action and started acting on the strategy to get “more” from the BJP-led government at the Centre.

“The proposals are being prepared by the departments to be sent to the Government of India to get funds for executing it,” state’s public works department minister Rajesh Munat said. The officials have been asked to take up the assignment on priority basis and draft the proposals as per the requirement, he added.

Most of the ministers from the state attended the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Soon after returning, the ministers had got engaged with the new task; preparing proposals that would be sent to New Delhi for approval and getting fund for its execution. “The state officials will give presentation before the minister and the officials in New Delhi,” Munat said.

A senior state government official hinted that efforts would be made to get maximum fund for the anti-Naxal operations and infrastructure development. The state government had been designing a proposal for taking up development work in red zone besides modernization of state police force with Centre’s fund.

The state government would also look for additional fund to complete its project of Naya Raipur---the upcoming new capital city of Chhattisgarh. The official said many works in the project were pending due to lack of sufficient fund and the state government was hopeful to get maximum from the Centre.
