The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's attempt to position himself at the national level is going to remain a dream for him.

BJP Vice-President Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who was commenting on Nitish Kumar's crusade for Bihar's special status, said the latter has been talking about it for the six months.

"What is an ultimatum, he is already playing in the hands of the Congress Party. He is escorting Chidambaram to the Congress Headquarters; he is praising the Union Government. So, what Mr. Nitish Kumar is up to doesn't deserve a comment," said Rudy.

"But he is trying to prove a point. First, he should run the state properly. He is trying to position himself at the national level, it is going to remain a dream for him," he added.

Nitish Kumar had last month said the crusade for Bihar's special status would continue till the demand is met.

"The Centre should consider our demand for grant of special status to enable Bihar to leap into development track, otherwise our crusade on the issue will continue till the demand is met," Kumar had said at a function in his native Nalanda district.

"We have been striding on development path for long, but need special incentive to get closer to national ratio," he added, while describing special status demand as the rightful claim of Bihar and its people.
