NCP leader says EC should have banned 'Mann ki Baat' as Model Code of Conduct is in place for Bihar polls

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA is a government of words and not deeds.

"The Prime Minister, I'm afraid, has been trying to emotionally charge people by his oratory skills. This government has been known from past one and half years to be a government of 'baaton ki sarkaar, vaadon ki sarkaar, khwabon ki sarkaar'," said Memon.

The NCP leader further said the Election Commission of India should have imposed a ban on the 'Mann ki Baat' programme as the Model Code of Conduct is presently in place for the Bihar Assembly polls.

"Whether it is onion price or dengue fight, prices of commodities, availability of gas or anything; politics has its own role to play everywhere," Memon told ANI.

"You cannot say that you are permitting somebody to promote something or propagate something sans politics. This would be an incorrect assessment of expression," he added.

Prime Minister Modi earlier said the 'Mann ki Baat' programme has showcased the strength of people in society as people's power is of immense significance in a democracy. He said the programme has provided valuable feedback to the policy makers.

He said that through this programme many inputs have started coming from grass root level. The Prime minister said it is now in true sense maan ki baat of all countrymen.

Sharing his thoughts with the nation in the twelveth edition of his 'Mann ki Baat' programme, Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction that 30 lakh families have given up subsidised LPG cylinders.
