AIADMK's A Navaneethakrishnan is the only candidate from a prominent political party to have filed his papers for the election, necessitated following disqualification of DMK's T M Selvaganapathy from membership in the wake of his conviction in the cremation shed scam.
Navaneethakrishnan and three others-- all of them independents--have filed nominations and today is the last day for submitting nominations.

While the nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny tomorrow, the last date for their withdrawal of candidatures is June 26.
The independent candidates are not been supported by any political outfit.
