Lanco Infratech Ltd., (LITL), one of India’s fastest growing integrated infrastructure enterprises, announced the synchronization of 600 MW unit at Lanco Anpara Power Limited (A group company), with this the company has become the largest independent power producer (IPP) in India with present Installed Capacity of about 3,292 MW.
Lanco won this 2X600MW coal based thermal power project through the first ever competitive bid in the country under the Electricity Act.
The Uttar Pradesh government has tied up for the project’s coal and water linkages. It has also put in place a 765KV transmission line for power evacuation and power purchase agreement with distribution companies promoted by the Uttar Pradesh state electricity board. Anpara is a pithead project with coal mines just 25 kms away and a system already exists for transportation of coal in railway wagons.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. L Madhusudhan Rao, Executive Chairman, Lanco Infratech Limited, said,
“This achievement demonstrates the great example of Lanco way of working which is based on the principles of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Ownership. With the synchronization of 600 MW unit – 1 of Anpara power plant it also proves our capabilities to execute no matter how hard the challenges are. It is worthwhile to note that in last three years LITL has grown from the total installed capacity of 500 MW to 3292 MW which is the current capacity. Going forward this gives us more confidence to achieve an operating capacity of 15,000 MW by 2015 which is in line with our vision.
