Internationally renowned NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre has been acknowledged of being one of its ‘Greenest Facilities’ and has recently installed a light solution system from Lutron Electronics. The Administrative and Maintenance facility catering to Propellants is using innovative light control strategies to dramatically reduce energy consumption and maximizes the use of available daylight.
Lutron is thrilled to enable NASA achieve net zero energy use in their greenest facility to-date with light control strategies that can save up to 60% of lighting energy. The light controls at the Propellants facility will include wireless wall-mounted controls, digitally addressable electronic ballasts, occupancy sensors and daylight sensors to dramatically reduce energy use.
“Many of the office walls are solid glass, so installing wireless wall-mounted controls was the perfect solution to allow the buildings to maximize use of available daylight at all times” said Andy Wakefield, Government Business Development Director at Lutron.
The Light Control System is a part of NASA facility designed to LEED platinum standard and net zero energy use. This facility will also reach for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Environment and Energy Design (LEED) Platinum Status, which is the highest LEED rating.
