Panasonic, the global technology leader now inks an exclusive sponsorship deal as the “Official Electronics Partner”, with the IPL team Delhi DareDevils, for the third season of IPL T 20, scheduled in March 2010. Further, to earmark the sport association, the brand also unveiled its new jersey for the Delhi Dare Devils IPL team.
The sponsorship leverages the brand with wider visibility, in terms of chest logos on the t-shirts and jerseys of the 38 players, including the team players, coach and the support staff. Panasonic would also be setting up large Plasma Panel displays in the relevant stadiums, throughout the season of IPL 3 league. Besides, as part of the deal Panasonic would also undertake marketing and promotional activities for the game.
Expressing comments on the association, Mr. Daizo Ito, CEO, Panasonic India, said: “Partnering with a cricket team of as strong caliber as of Delhi Daredevils, can be governed as a conscious strategic decision of furtherance of our vision, that begin with our Olympics sponsorship more than 20 years back and continues till date. Our foray into cricket is a gradual phenomena of extensifying our scope of sports promotion, following our earlier association with the AIFF.”
He further adds, “Besides, it’s a great platform to capitalize on the mass visibility, and with both of us being individual leaders in our respective realms, I am hopeful for a long term and fruitful relationship.”
Adding to the comments of Mr. Ito, Mr. Amrit Mathur, COO, GMR Sports Pvt. Ltd, said, “The composition of our Delhi Daredevils team is a unique blend of the prospering talent along with the players who have been polished over the years with an extensive experience, and with Panasonic now becoming the official electronics partner for the team, I hope the energy of association synergizes the team potential for the competitive success.”
The recent burgeoning interest of Panasonic towards the Sports domain can’t be ignored. Its earlier association with National football federation of India and now its opulent partnering with the heartthrob IPL team, Delhi Daredevils, can be evaluated as the brand’s mission now getting aligned to penetrate amongst the Indian masses and household on a comprehensive demographic scale.
